I have posted these pictures as a shameful reminder to myself. They are awful.
Let’s review my mistakes. First, even though I recently purchased a Manfrotto tripod with a quick-release bracket, I didn’t use it. I was too timid about setting up a tripod in a busy street.
Second, my timing sucked. I got there after the main event, and it was already night.
Third, I was too sneaky. I should have gotten closer to the man playing the erhu, taken a decent photograph and left a donation. Instead I acted really, really lame.
An unsteady hand, high ISO, low-shutter speed and poor framing has added a few years onto my prison sentence. As self-punishment (and for practice), all pictures taken this week will be shot on a tripod with a prime lens.
Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible.
